Morwell Advertiser (Morwell, Vic. : 1888 - 1954) - Thu 9 Nov 1950 - Page 4 - Obituary. https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/66123516 Obituary. MRS. SYLVIA E. S. OLIVER WIDESPREAD regret was felt throughout the town at the death of Mrs. Sylvia E. S. Oliver on 24th October, as the result of injuries received when she was struck by a car at the Princes Highway-Church St. intersection, Morwell, three days previously. The deceased was born at Moe, later residing at Melbourne before coming to Morwell with her husband and family in 1945. From that time she interested herself in the community life of the town, especially church work and matters connected with the annual Christmas Party to the children and the local band, of which her husband and son were playing members. Over forty cars followed the remains to the place of interment at Yallourn Cemetery on 26th October, when the Morwell Band and other organisations were strongly represented. Over 100 floral tributes were placed on the grave. Prior to the funeral a service was conducted at her home by Canon R. W. G. Phillips, who also officiated at the graveside. The deceased leaves a husband, one son, John and two daughters, Valerie and Sylvia, to mourn her passing.
