Shared note
Leven Advertiser & Wemyss Gazette 17 February 1916 - KILLED IN MESAPOTAMIA Another soldier has to be added to the list of those who have fallen on the battlefield. Mrs. Kilgour, East Shore Street has been notified by the War Office that her husband, Private David Kilgour, 2nd Black Watch, has been killed in action in Mesapotamia. A mason to trade, he enlisted sometime after the outbreak of war, and left for France with his regiment, later being drafted to the Persian Gulf. He was 36 years of age, and leaves a widow and two of a family, for whom much sympathy will be extended. His aged mother, Mrs. Kilgour, Bridge Street, Leven, has had the bitter experience of losing not only a son, but two grandsons - Lieutenant Andrew Mercer, D.C.M., and Lance-Corporal Robert Moriss - in the war. Keen sorrow will be felt for her by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances in the blow that has again fallen upon her.
